Budapest's varied history in classical music is continued today. The Hungarian State Opera and the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music are constantly packed, whether they are showcasing old masterpieces, contemporary takes, or the experimentations of young innovators.

Fran Palermo is one of Hungary’s most popular bands today; they always throw great concerts with the stage full of their many musicians, and have been filling venues for years now. SoulClap Budapest, is more than just a band, it’s more accurate to label it as a workshop. SoulClap is comprised of a number of DJs and a live band, with all the members having their individual projects, whether rooted in the jazz, soul, or funk of the ’60s and ’70s, which they mix with hip-hop tunes. The trio of Veronika Harcsa, Andrew J and Bálint Gyémánt play a unique mix of jazz, trip-hop, downtempo and pop, which has earned them international fame. This year, Hungarian music is showing its heavier side with rising comet AWS having won the qualifiers to represent the country at this year’s Eurovision contest.
