DAY 1

The Danube Bend tour will take you along the Hungarian section of Central Europe’s longest river, touching upon Visegrád, Esztergom and Szentendre. While getting to experience traveling down one of historic Hungary’s most important commercial routes and enjoying the scenery, you will also have the chance to have a look at three of the country's most beautiful locations and get to know their historic significance.

Visegrád used to be the seat of the royal court, where you should be sure to check out the palace. The view of the Danube is amazing. Esztergom is the former capital of the country, where the country's founder, Saint Stephen was born. The Esztergom Basilica is Hungary’s largest cathedral and is also the seat of the Roman Catholic Church in Hungary. Treat yourself to a traditional lunch here in a true Hungarian restaurant. The final stint of the tour should take you to Szentendre. The charming city with its cobblestone streets, charming little houses and its legendary marzipan will be a perfect way to wrap up your day before heading back.

DAY 2

Day two will take you to Lake Balaton, the biggest lake in Central Europe and also a beloved holiday destination for Hungarians. You will visit Herend, which is world famous for its locally manufactured, finely detailed porcelain, which adorn the desks, of politicians, royalty and Hollywood stars. Get acquainted with the production of porcelain from start to finish under the guidance of Herend’s experienced master porcelain-makers. Of course, you can buy real hand painted Herend porcelain for yourself or enjoy a cup of coffee from a work of art. The next station is the Tihany peninsula. The town’s famous twin-towered monastery can be approached through charming streets where you can also buy handmade lavender products as Tihany is famous for its lavender plantations. The monastery itself offers an unparalleled view of the Balaton landscape. Once done exploring, why not enjoy a three-course lunch at one of the many restaurants here. Finally, for the day, head over to Balatonfüred and enjoy a walk on the beach. While you’re at Balaton, don’t miss out on the region’s wine specialties, visit one of the wine estates – Laposa, Homola or Gilvesy just to name a few – offering a magnificent look on the lake

DAY 3

The third day’s excursion takes you to the Alföld (Great Plain). Much of the country's agriculture happens here, and the great distances have served as inspiration for many famous poets and writers and played a major role in shaping Hungary’s national identity. You should head to the Hortobágy area - being part of UNESCO World Heritage – where one of the most interesting destinations of the day will be the “csárda”, the plain’s legendary eatery. A csárda is a classic Hungarian eating venue, typically situated in the outskirts of a town, to be frequented by travelers.  You’ll be treated to a snack to wash down with a shot of pálinka fruit spirit. Then the “csikósok”, Hungary’s mounted horse-herdsmen will demonstrate how you can actually ride five horses at once. If you’re up for some horseback riding, now’s your chance.
